Faith Connections on Mental Illness (FCMI)

The mission of FCMI is to connect across faiths in mental health ministry

FCMI began with a few individuals from congregations in Chapel Hill aiming to stop the stigma of mental illness and battle the sense of isolation and rejection.

Individuals and houses of worship from all faiths continue to join this coalition.  Through education and advocacy in the community and individual congregations, FCMI offers support and comfort to people living with mental illness and those who care for and about them.

Connectors meetings are open to everyone, typically held on the 2nd Monday of each month, and feature an informative program on mental health issues with opportunities for interfaith discussion.

FCMI Mission Pillars

Advocacy
FCMI believes that as people of faith, we are called to be active in social justice initiatives that help to educate the public and remove the stigma often associated with Mental Illness.  Follow our Events page for details on upcoming events.

Support
FCMI believes in walking alongside those affected by mental illness and their faith communities. See our Resource page for support information about mental health-related events and organizations; resource listings; sermon ideas; and book recommendations.

Education
FCMI believes in an active program of education on mental health for the person, congregation, and community. Follow our Meetings and Annual Conference pages for programs and calendars.

With the sunrise of each new day comes
the dawn of hope.  Psalm 97:11
