Jesus and the Disinherited Book Group

Picture
The Mt. Level Community Partnership for Racial Justice will be hosting a book study on Rev. Dr. Howard Thurman's Jesus and the Disinherited. The group is open to all and free of charge, thanks to a grant from Faith Connections on Mental Illness, and support from DurhamCares.

Dates: Tuesdays, 9/13-10/25, from 6:30-8pm, via Zoom. Register here.

The first session will be hybrid so people can participate online or in-person on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 3002 Hope Valley Rd, Durham, NC 27707. All other sessions are on Zoom.

Components of the study include introductory remarks by Rev. Dr. Keith Daniel and thoughtful discussion questions based on the chapter of the week. Participants will be placed in the same small groups for discussion each week.  Participants are responsible to purchase their own copies of the book, Jesus and the Disinherited, and we will provide online links for supplemental materials.

We ask that all participants affirm the community covenant, and that participants make every effort to attend all meetings for the entire duration of the book group.
