Responses may be submitted through May 12.

September is Suicide Awareness Month
By recognizing September as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, you will be helping to destigmatize suicide so that your faith community can become a place in which suicide is prevented or reduced and members who have lost a loved one to suicide can receive compassionate ministry.

Listed below are links to resources provided by Faith Connections on Mental Illness Task Force on Suicide Prevention/Reduction that we feel could provide helpful information including sample prayers and liturgies from different faith traditions. You can select something to use during your worship service as well as in your communications.

Out of the Darkness Walks: The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are particularly important events for the AFSP North Carolina Chapter. The Walks are our largest fundraisers and provide significant financial support to keep our programs and services free of charge to help individuals and families affected by suicide. COVID-19 has not stopped the mental health needs of our community and we continue to provide free programs every day.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention North Carolina Chapter hosts Out of the Darkness Walks throughout the state each fall. Register today for a Walk near you and join us as we walk to fight suicide.
