Why walking on November 10 is important to Geetha Balagopal
We have had many painful days since we lost Priya. September 3rd is particularly painful. It was on this day, 4 years ago that Priya tried to kill herself for the 3rd time. It was the day I realized that this was going to keep happening and I felt so helpless and powerless.
4 months later, my worst fear came true and Priya left our little family forever and we are still working on picking up the shattered pieces of our lives.
I had no idea that we had resources locally that could have helped us. One of them was a local suicide support group. Attending the support group meetings has helped me deal with my grief and loss. The members of that group have become family. Much as I love the group, I would not wish for anyone I care about to join our group. I walk with them to help myself and to let the world know that Priya's suicide left behind a family that adored her.. . a family that had its hearts ripped out... a family who is still suffering - every second of every day. A family that is trying all it can to heal.
Walking with them helps me - it also help other families like others - to know that there is hope for those suffering from severe mental illness.
Please walk with me to honor and support the survivors of suicide and to remember my precious Priya and others like her who left us too soon.
100% of the proceeds will go to benefit local groups - including HOPELINE - Priya served as a volunteer for them.
PLEASE SHARE THIS EMAIL WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY and encourage them to join Priya's team. We don't want any other family to lose a loved one to suicide.
