FCMI Annual Conference
Since 2011, Faith Connections on Mental Illness has hosted a day-long annual conference featuring nationally recognized experts to address issues associated with faith and mental illness. Attendance averaged 250 clergy, laypersons, mental health professionals, and other individuals interested in the topics. Optional Continuing Education Credits were offered by Wake AHEC.
There will not be a conference in 2022.
Just as the world has recalibrated how things are done in light of the challenges presented by Covid-19, FCMI is likewise reviewing how to best serve our community following the three mission pillars of Advocacy, Support, and Education. We have learned for example, that attendance at our monthly Connectors' meetings has dramatically increased due to the Zoom format, and anticipate that even when we can gather again in person, the hybrid format will continue, facilitating attendance by those with time and geographic challenges.
For 2021-2022, FCMI will channel the energy, enthusiasm, and resources typically dedicated to the annual conference, into four major areas of focus: 1) Mental Health Literacy; 2) Youth Support/Outreach; 3) Suicide Awareness/Education/Prevention; and 4) Faith Community Outreach. We invited you to join us in this next step in our journey in fulfilling our mission of connecting across faiths in mental health ministry.
